Android Office icon

I have both the Office 365 Icon as well as the Excel icon on my Android phone start screen. When I open the Office icon and choose the excel spreadsheet that I want, It won't open it saying it hadn't been updated, and couldn't be updated? If I click on the ignore changes, the spreadsheet opens with all of the correct data. However when I open the excel app, it opens just fine with the latest data showing.
