Windows 10 closed captions ease access to video
Many people find closed captioning helpful not only when watching videos, but also when using a PC. Windows includes several settings to make computer work easier when hearing is difficult.
What percentage of your friends, family are computer savvy?
For me only about 50%... We all know that computers are not going away anytime soon. I have used a computer for 25 years. I know many people, younger and older who do not want to know anything about computers and I know an equal amount of people, younger and older who thrive on their smartphones and PCs. About 7 years ago my 80 year old neighbor made me realize that I need a tablet; if he could use it, I could certainly learn! I feel like the knowledge I have gained from the Windows Community has both enhanced my knowledge and created many new acquaintances as well! 😊 Hey Microsoft people, can you design a video to convince others how easy it is to operate a computers or smartphone?
I can't activate Windows 10 after hard drive switch.
I was given this desktop computer by a kind person in my community, and I pulled the original hard drive and gave it to them for thier security and installed a new one myself. I then installed Windows 10 from a copy that my old boss at a local computer shop provided me for free, no product key of course though. I installed the Windows 10 Pro OS and tried to get it activated so I could use the wide range of features available once activated but failed to get it done before it went limited setting. I recently spoke with a kind microsoft rep. online about another issue and brought up my issue with activation he gave me a screenshot and link for an accessibilities options for people with disabilities program that was over but assured me that I fit all the criteria nessessary to get my copy of Windows 10 activated free but I've had nothing but headaches and redirects that have consumed many hours of my time to no avail! I'm on a very fixed income and require activation for my O/S ASAP! Can anybody assisst me in finding a way to access this program and get actived please the limited mode is extemly frustrating to use the link I was given is- https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/accessibility/windows10upgrade. Thank You!
Hello everybody, I recent misplaced my laptop which probably found it's new owner by now. In a classic case of idiotism, I have not turned on the Find my device feature, so I have basically said goodbye to it. I would like to ask for some advice though. Is there anything I can do remotely about my data protection? I have performed the basic stuff like changing passwords to everything I could think off, logging out remotely from gmail and facebook. But how about the data on the laptop itself? Regards Jan
What would you introduce for the next windows 10 update?
I was thinking about the swipe down functions for tablet mode to be changed, if there is a swipe down onto the middle, it instead can focus on resizing the apps on the side by side window. I would also like if windows allowed for recreating thumbnails on the file explorer or the settings app. obviously these are suggestions, but I really wonder what's your opinion, so I can steal credit 🐍

Tribute to Black People
An email from CEO Satya Nadella to Microsoft employees: Seeing injustice in the world calls us all to take action, as individuals and as a company. Sometimes this action is personal – what do I do to change? Sometimes it is organizational – what changes do I need to make around me? And sometimes it is reflected into the world – what can we do as a company to accelerate the change we desire? As we see the everyday racism, bias and violence experienced by the Black and African American community, the tragic and horrific murders of so many, the violence in cities across the US, it is time for us to act in all arenas. As I shared in our Employee Town Hall last week, each of us – starting with me and the senior leaders at the company – has a role to play. We cannot episodically wake up when a new tragedy occurs. A systemic problem requires a holistic response. I am heartbroken by the deep pain our communities are feeling. The results of systemic racism, which have impacted opportunities and exacerbated injustices for Black and African American communities, urge me to consider my own role as a leader. I must continue my journey of understanding and empathy and examine actions I take, or don’t take, every day. Listening and learning from my Black and African American colleagues is helping me develop a better understanding of their experience. And I take accountability for my own continued learning on the realities of privilege, inequity and race and modeling the behavior I want to see in the world. As a company, we need to look inside, examine our organization, and do better. For us to have the permission to ask the world to change, we must change first. We have to embrace the same speed and mindset that we do in anticipating and building for future technological shifts. Each day, we work to bridge the gap between the culture we espouse and our daily lived experience, but we must do more and do it faster. In order to be successful as a business in empowering everyone. SA
Windows 10 Green Screen oopsie 🤔
When I powered-up my computer this morning I received a green screen error message (as my family member advised). Message indicated 'Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info'. At this point the OS automatically did a restart and my system returned to normal. This is the first time I have encountered a green screen. As I am a curious person, I would like to know what was the conflict? Really good to know about such things. Views? Many thanks, keep well.

Multi-Monitors - Easily choose picture for each display
Right-Click the Desktop, choose Personalize, and you can choose to use a picture as your background. Pretty straight forward, right? Now let's say you connect up a 2nd monitor and you want to have a different picture on each monitor. So you repeat the steps you did the last time, but now choosing a 2nd picture to use, and then BOOM! That 2nd picture is now on both monitors. What happened to the first picture you selected? You can see it listed among the other pictures between the "Choose your picture" and "Browse". You click on it and both monitors show only the one picture. In order to choose one of those pictures to be displayed on a certain monitor, you must Right-Click and choose "Set for monitor #" and then do the same for the 2nd picture for the 2nd monitor. Okay, sounds simple enough, right? Well, now imagine you have 4 monitors and you want a different picture for each monitor. So you go through the steps to Browse for the 4 pictures, one at a time, so that it adds them to the choice of pictures. Then you Right-click each picture and choose "Set for monitor 1", then "Set for monitor 2" and so on, until you finally have your 4 different pictures displayed on the 4 different monitors just the way you like. It took some work, but it looks great, right? Well now imagine you change your mind about 1 or 2 or even all 4 pictures. Every time you go through the steps to browse for a new picture for your background, it applies that new picture to ALL of your monitors, so then you must right-click each picture in the Background Settings windows, and select which monitor you want it displayed on. Also, the Background Settings window only displays your most recent 5 photos, so if you had your favorite 4 or 5 pictures already displayed, and then you browse for another one and didn't like it, well it's bumped one of the others off the list. So now you have to browse to find it again, and add it back to the list so that you can once more go and "Set for monitor #"
