Windows Defender anti-virus
Hi all - 1st time posting, I think. On my new HP computer - Windows 10 - I confirmed that Windows Defender anti-virus is turned on, and uninstalled McAfee trial that came with the computer, as I've read was advised to prevent a Trojan virus sneaking inbetween the 2 protections. TWO QUESTIONS: (1) Is Windows Defender all that should be required, for a casual-use, at-home pc, or do users get a second anti-virus program to back it up? and (2) My (paid) McAfee subscription ran out on my OLD (now only occasionally used) Windows 10 PC. Is there anyway a virus could get into that computer, and transfer over to my NEW pc, since the devises are apparently synced? TIA!

Moment of Need Learning (MONL)
How do you get the naive, untrained, beginner to learn programs and guidelines faster and more effectively? The answer is arrange your material to be interactive and adaptive so that it can respond when a user/learner needs the information. This is the most ignored, unused learning paradigm since the concept of pre-creating a curriculum using the concept: 'one size fits all." and experts know best. For a period in the personal computer revolution 1959-2009, computer program usage awakened to the ideal that their training materials and their programs would capture more customers and less churn if they designed their training and Solutions material to be "USER FRIENDLY." A trendy way to make their introductory, intermediate, and help services were interactive with the user: that it gave a definition, showed a diagram, linked to a procedure when the student wanted it in real time and fast time. The art of creating USER FRIENDLY PROGRAM CURRICULUM, developed to an effective teaching art and then has just disappeared. Program introductory and advance training is virtually devoid of need based, instant training. Microsoft manuals used to be covered with blue links. Technical terms linked to examples and definitions in nanoseconds, Feedback questions, with personal choices, peppered their online manuals linking individuals when they wanted and needed a diagram, a video, a paragraph and did NOTHING AT ALL when the reader didn't want it. Today, upon the down load of OUR NEW WONDERFUL MICROSOFT EDGE, OR X, OR X.....THE reader is forced into a slideshow. put into a psudo reward motivation program, and constant intrusions from the dumbest virtual counselors with the most illogical complexities of questions and choices I have seen since the coin operated Fortune Tellers were retired from the 1920-1930's. Videos jump in and slather the entire screen with pre-ordained information, 3-D graphics are being forced fed into this process. WHO THE HELL IS IN CHARGE?

Catastrophic Failure: icloud-windows integration
Hello Windows Community Thanks for sharing the lead to the new update Windows 10, which leads to Catastrophic Failure, Which leads to corrupt files, which leads to the close of another day and nothing created and lots of wasted time but there really is nothing else to do during the pandemic. I still type really slowly, my fingers don't always do what I intend them to do, but I can get that system that never wants to comply up and performing even after a total crash out and catastrophic failure warning and no access to USB device. Shall I call that progress or comedy?

Pin
Yes! How do I know what my pin is when I sat up windows actually I don't remember setting one up. And when I had a camera I set up a face to log in. And that picture is still being the log in but since the new update to 2004 the picture is to big I can't click some parts of it to log in so I hit forgot pin then I get a box for a code then I hit cancel and windows lets me in. But this is very frustrating how can I just go back to logging in by a password and that picture goes away or don't use nothing and just log in?

Won't update
A couple weeks ago my laptop stopped downloading/installing most Microsoft updates. And when I looked at update history everything before 29 April 2021 was gone. I have updates successfully installed under "Quality Updates, KB5003169 ( 5/11/2021) and KB4023057 (04/29/2021), and under "Other Updates" is KB8090830 (5/11/2021). Other updates are listed as Failed to Install. When I pull up the Windows Update page there is an alert saying "Your device is missing important security and quality fixes" and will not update/download anything. I don't know if any of this info helps you. Please be kind, I'm an old lady on social security. LOL. Inclusion for all disabilities 🤩💯✔
Many contributors on this platform recognise and applaud the 'Ease of Access' features on Windows 10. Microsoft teams are to be congratulated 👏 with a personal thank you for me. From my very latest experience helping another visually impaired User to use Word in particular the screen reader and Narrator, I have the impression (I could be wrong) that marketing/raising awareness to disabled users could and should be improved. By way of explanation, the other day, I was able to assist a colleague to create a simple Word document. Imagine please 😊 'Anne' sitting at her desktop with the landline telephone stuck to my ear and my colleague doing the same in her own home. Although it was a prolonged process, I was able to help her discover some of the basic features such 'read aloud' and Narrator. When I discussed this experience with a community group, some people that they were 'afraid of breaking their computers' and not being adventurous enough because they were unsure of what they were doing. Something about technophobia perhaps. I replied that they would have to hit their computers with a very heavy item to break them. I also mentioned that operating systems are usually reliable and have their internal routines to resolve faults/errors. One person said that computers are an enigma to him. I replied that it is an enigma to me at times 😊 🤣. But, there was a general sense from this conversation that computer technology was for the 'clever people' and those who had all their faculties. I disavowed that presumption with my colleagues/acquaintances. Quite strongly actually. But it has made me think about how we can change this 'perception'. So, I am challenging Microsoft (respectfully of course 🤩😊) to comprehensively engage with users who have disabilities ; raising their awareness of the opportunities that information technology affords. FAO Moderator - please do not hesitate to socialise this with MS colleagues. Many thanks all 🙏😊

In-place Upgrade of Win. 10 vs. re-installation of Win. 10
Your device might run into an issue or issues like in Windows 10 functionality and the In-Place Upgrade sometimes is the most reliable and quickest way to fix the Windows 10 malfunctions. Here are the options you can choose to fix issues & the differences between the In-place Upgrade of Win. 10 vs. re-installation of Win. 10. 1st option) The best quickest option but one that might take a while is called an In-place Upgrade of Windows 10. Here is the link on how to perform one. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_install/how-to-perform-an-in-place-upgrade-with-windows-10/7f0b236e-3c6c-4913-9691-c4baa2a6190a Here are two good things about an In-place Upgrade: a) it re-install Windows 10 to the current one b) you can choose to keep files, folders, apps, etc. ( that means you will not loose anything after the In-Place Upgrade is finished) 2nd option) re-install or clean install Windows 10: This method is faster than an In-place Upgrade but all your apps, drivers, updates, etc. gets erased. (reminder: backup every files, folders, etc. before performing this. Apps will have to be reinstalled.) This let's your device start fresh. You can choose to backup folders, files, etc. to the D drive, if you choose not to erase the D drive during the re-install of Windows 10. Here is the link on how to perform re-installation of Windows 10. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_install/clean-install-windows-10/1c426bdf-79b1-4d42-be93-17378d93e587 Hope the info. helps.

new issues account issues
hi there: I created a new user account because my old one was corrupted. Two issues. 1) I switched from local account to my MS account. Issue is, the background color, like having folders in the dark mode, etc. did not sync or carry over. What is happening there? 2) Why are apps from the store like Candy Crush gets installed automatically? What is happening there? Possible bugs? Can someone have the team check it out? I can send a feedback, if it is a bug.

What you like about to be Windows Insider
Tell what you like about to be a Windows Insider, and why you are a member of the Insiders family. I myself like to play with the new features before they come out to the mass public and give feedback to the product team. And when the new Windows 10 version is released to the mass public, I can help users with the new features that make there life or work easier. I am a Windows Insider from day one and since Jan 2020 also Windows Insider MVP.
