Seriously Microsoft. Why would you remove the network map feature from Windows? This was a really stupid move. Now people have to resort to 3rd party software when it could have been a basic baked in feature... like it has been in the past.

The Continuing Hardware Mystery
Perhaps there is a sleuth within our community who can shed a light on a vey peculiar issue. Background:-I have a HP Touchsmart 300 (All-In-One} bought in 2009 - operating system Windows 7 Home Premium. Naturally I jumped at the opportunity to upgrade to the new Windows 10 in 2015. Yes I am aware that my HP 300 is 10 years old and that some of the issues may be put down to age, however It has been well maintained and is still in perfect physical condition so I am hesitant to say age has caused certain devices/hardware to stop functioning. In a nutshell after an Insider Preview update a device/hardware suddenly no longer works. The first to go was the microphone array and to date this no longer works and I had to install a external device. Other devices/hardware that suddenly stopped working which I thought was linked to the sound problem although the sound problem is now resolve. Sound issue resolved after further insider updates. At the moment I have to continually change the display drivers after each Insider update back to the original agreed Microsoft/AMD 2015 drivers which work perfectly with my display hardware. The new drivers they install each time they update OS results in a display out of focus, stretched and overall it looks very dull and wrong. The resolution is far lower than the capabilities of the display. Has anyone else encountered the above issues or perhaps have an explanation?
Memory Use in low-memory devices
With each feature update (since 1607, at least), Windows 10 uses more memory (and disk space, but that's another day). It's getting to where 50-60% of RAM in a tablet/2-in-1 (2GB RAM, Win10 Home 32-bit) or older laptop (4GB RAM, Win10 Home 64-bit) is taken for a multitude of services and other tasks most of which just site there - seldom actually using CPU cycles after system startup. Yes, we should buy new computers with more RAM, on a never-ending cycle. Sorry, not going to happen in the real world where budgets are tight. What Windows needs is to be more cognizant of what the machine it's running on has available, and adjust its running footprint to match. A good rule of thumb might be: 50% of RAM when not running apps explicitly opened by the user is probably too much. If I don't have a lot of RAM, load those services only when they're needed and unload them afterward. Yes, that would slow down things when the services are needed and have to be reloaded, but the overuse of RAM is slowing things down anyway by pushing things into swap when any significant app is opened. Using swap is a real pain with spinning rust, but not great with eMMC or slower SSDs either. Look in Task Manager sometime and note how much is sitting there at the bottom of the process list nearly all the time, using no CPU once the system has stabilized following startup; those tasks and services should be candidates for killing during normal use. At minimum (assuming a reasonably-sized C: drive), those should be swapped out after a certain amount of "dead" time without waiting for something else to be loaded that forces the issue (and slows the load of a task that is actually needed). ??? A pain in the... border WALL
How do you keep a group of hackers off your net. Off your pc,s tablets, phones. Man. They ripped up my last laptop. I can bypass the har ddrive with an exterior one. My keyboarding sucks right just now. Ihave to wathc the screen. My cursor fly/jumps everywhere. My settings in every thing I have set up has chg'd. No emails, to missed ph calls. I know alot of things about them But justnot what to do to stop them. EXCEPT Shut it all down. Turn off my internet. Shut down the Desktop, laptop, and tablets. Just use my our phones. It will make them mess with me big time at first. Threats Lots of threats. Turn on WiFi Turn off firewqll settings, turn on file sharing. My Laptop is barely 5 years old and the hard drive looks like a 90 yo bladder. Picture that??? Any advise on how to get rid of them. Monday Blues
cameras don't work on my pc. tried everything
tried everything i could to get them going. but my cameras won't work. i made one video and after that nothing.
Pinning Websites
I'm sure some of you may have noticed, while others may have not, but you can no longer pin websites to the start screen, even by pinning it to your taskbar and dragging to your start screen, it can no longer be done. I've been aware of this, and have working around it, but after this last update....... ok, well we'll leave it at that... I was chatting with Microsoft Tech support this afternoon, and after I finally got them to try and pin a web site to their start screen, they admitted they couldn't do it either. Funny though they had a work around? So here's the work around, and it involve Google Chrome! Open the website you want to pin to your Windows 10 Start Screen in Google Chrome. Yea, you read that right! Once your website is open, click on the three dots located in the upper right hand corner. Scroll down until you sees More Tools. Hover over that and choose Create Shortcut... a pop up will appear where you name your shortcut, and here is where it gets important! You need to check the box that says Open as Window, then click create. Now go back to your start screen and under recently added apps you will see your recently added website. There is one last step. With it there you will not be able to move it around. So while it is in the Recently Added Apps right click and choose Pin to Start Menu. Voila! You're done, and your websites are now back on your start screen. Let's do hope that the boys and girls in Redmond fix this!
Cortana
Prior to 2004, I used a Windows-based computer. I was unhappy with Windows because of constant "blue screens of death", hackers planting viruses, etc...When I became a truck driver in 2004, I mainly used a mobile phone and started using Google products. I like their products and they all work seamlessly with each other. Now, I am a full-time Care-Provider for my mother and just purchased a new computer with Windows 10 Pro installed. I decided to give Microsoft apps a try once again because I do like their products. On my PC there are no problems, but on my Android phone, I just can't seem to get Cortana to work hands-free, and with certain apps. I do understand that there is a war between Microsoft, Apple, Google and any other companies that are out there, but, the customer (that would be you and I) should be able to use whatever Assistant we choose to work with any apps that we like and use. Case in point: the Google Assistant comes on automatically when I say "OK Google" (hands-free), and I can set a timer, ask about the weather, play my favorite music in the Google Play app, etc....no problem....Today I downloaded Cortana to work with all my apps and I cannot even get it to turn on without tapping the microphone button. I made it my default app, turned on all the permissions, etc...and I am discouraged with Microsoft again. I haven't given up yet, but I had to switch back to the Google Assistant just so I can do the things I need to do hands-free, which comes with a cost of not being able to use some of the Microsoft apps unless done manually. I like Microsoft's To-Do List, but Google Assistant will only open Google's Task app. It just defeats the whole purpose of downloading all of Microsoft's apps if I can't use everything seamlessly. I use Amazon Music now, and neither Assistant will open it. I would really like to use whatever Assistant I choose with the default apps that I select. Now, am I doing something wrong or does this sound about right?
Office 365
Hi. I am curious. I have a charge on my credit card for Microsoft Office 365. I thought this was free with with my computer and Windows 10. Dont want to cancel the credit card charge and lose Office 365. I am not tech smart...could you tell? LOL
