Should I post the Microsoft Edge Dev change log every week?
Share your opinion! In the meantime, here's today's one: Hello Insiders! Today we’re releasing build 89.0.723.0 to the Dev channel. As you can see, this is our first build for version 89, and here’s everything exciting it’s got: Added features: Added the ability to run an on-demand scan for leaked passwords from the Passwords Settings page. Added a website permission to Cookies and Site Data for pre-loading websites. Added an option to have downloaded PDFs open in the default PDF reader instead of Edge. Added keyboard shortcut information to the Share, Copy, and Paste Settings page. Enabled work from Chromium to reduce battery usage by background tabs. Enabled support for management policies from Chromium for Printing Allowed Background Graphics Modes and Printing Background Graphics Default. Improved reliability: Fixed an issue where Edge doesn’t start and instead gives an error that the “side by side configuration is invalid”. Fixed a crash on launch on Linux. Fixed a crash on shutdown when the browser is closed quickly after creating a new tab. Fixed a crash during shutdown. Fixed a crash when using vertical tabs. Fixed an issue where re-opening an IE mode tab that was previously closed sometimes crashes the browser. Changed behavior: Fixed an issue where there’s an invisible or un-selectable tab in the tab strip. Fixed an issue where the … menu’s icon direction is vertical instead of horizontal. Fixed an issue where middle-clicking on a folder in the Favorites menu doesn’t open all its content in new tabs. Fixed an issue where clicking on the Favorites menu or History menu button when the menu is open doesn’t close the menu. Fixed an issue where certain website permissions in Settings are blank. Fixed an issue where the button in Settings to manage printers doesn’t work. Fixed an issue where autofill sometimes suggests older or out-of-date passwords for websites. I had a work PC configured, then Microsoft forced an update
Hi, I would like to ask a Microsoft Manager, (any department will do), how would you feel after you find that your working PC is not working anymore, while you have a customer in front of you waiting to start a recording session he paid for. I have a DAW, configured with 3 monitor and one professional Dante audio interface. I run a recording studio. My work is to record musician sessions in a dynamic way, following and inspiring artists to focus on creativity and music, not on technology. Today I had to cancel the session, a band that arrived from abroad, because the last Windows update left my system in a non operative status. I am working hard to recover the technical situation, but I think I have lost a customer. They asked me: why you do not use MAC? I decided to use Windows because I was curious to see if the belief that Mac OS is better for professional recording studio was correct. I gave Microsoft credit. But, this is the third time I have this problem. It is not acceptable. I will update (should I say upgrade) the systems to Mac, but as a short term solution I have to reconfigure the DAW. Do you know what I have to do to reconfigure my system and how long it will take me? I will tell you. Read the following log. 1. AMD Radeon HD 7770 Ghz Edition - driver gone - I had to reinstall - 40 minutes 2. wrong resolution on display n.2 (LG ultrawide HDMI) - 10 min. 3. three desktop - on the display n. 1 I have icons of the previous n. 2 / on display 2 there is nothing / on disp. 3 a mess - 20 min. 4. The color management is gone! I had to run Spider5Express on 3 monitors to recalibrate the colour - 1 hour and 30 minutes 5. Audio: reconfiguration I will continue later... but... Gentleman, my feeling now is that my DAW is not really mine! Microsoft have the control on my belonging. I pay for something that I have to disconnect physically from Internet otherwise I can not avoid updates? This is unacceptable and ridiculous.

The great dilemma.
Over many years, starting with DOS, I have seen operating systems come and go. When they do, forums like this always throw up the views of lovers and haters. Unbalanced views are the main reason I stay away from social media in general, because I try to look past my own narrow view of what is best. The world turns, not about me, but about every user and their diverse needs. In my world, computers do something useful like engineering calculation or photo manipulation. Things I couldn't do realistically or creatively without one. In the days of DOS, a computer did amazing things for me. I wrote software that designed and plotted timber frame homes. Something way ahead of what most companies at the time had to work with. Windows arrived on the scene and was more trouble than it was worth, to me, being hampered by a graphical interface that served no practical purpose. The mouse was the most useful advance of the time, back then. We all hate change when we have to face learning a different way of doing something that we did perfectly well before. As I saw it, newer versions of windows added many different ways of doing the same thing. Another unnecessary distraction because those changes bloated the interface making it harder to work quickly. I could still revert to DOS, (no I couldn't, actually) or an earlier OS like my favourite Win 7. Why don't I, probably for the same reason as those who have progressed to Win 10, latest update version. We hope we will discover something new and exciting in it. Sadly, we don't make that discovery, but we do still upgrade and chase that foolish illusion. I can't help myself and I doubt anyone else can, either. What I also see in these advancements is the challenge Microsoft (and Apple) have. How to invent a new wheel, one that looks better than the old round one and does all the things their own advertising agents think customers desperately want. The customer, like me, seems to be the problem. Stop using what we don't need.
