Is there any way to actually disable Cortana?
What the title says. Not saying Cortana's bad or I don't like it or anything. I just don't use it. And while I'm completely fine with ignoring it in the background, it does take up valuable memory sometimes. Any way to uninstall it from Windows 10 completely?
How to disable the appearance "open file" dialog
I am running some automation process of deploying image and automate download using vbs scipting. Things work find in Windows 7 but when it comes to windows 10, the automated process (from VBS script) was being halted by the dialog/windows box "how do you want to open files" with the checkbox "always use this app to open .vbs files". As the image having visual studio 2005 installed, the windows keep pop up asking whether choose Windows based script host to run, or using visual studio to run. I've tried several method to inject and set windows based script as default program to run vbs script, but the windows of asking which program to run still appearing. Here's what I have done: 1. set value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.vbs\OpenWithList result : windows/dialog box still appear Is there any other registry value which represent the checkbox value of "always use this app to open .vbs files"? Or in short, I want to inject the registry value to set Windows base script host as default program to run vbs script and eliminate the appearance of the dialog box, so that it won't affect my automated process.
WMI Host provider CPU and lsass.exe Memory utlization high
We are using Windows Server 2016 Datacenter build 10.0.14393.3297 We have observed CPU utilization of WMI Host provider and Memory utlization of lsass.exe process is very high due to which system is getting slow. In our application logs which queries to WMI, we have found "enumeration operation may not execute." We found below link which mentions some bug related to WMI host provider: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/4096063/new-wmi-arbitrator-behavior-in-windows-server [^] The bug mentioned in above link seems fixed in below patch: https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/4088889/windows-10-update-kb4088889 1) Could you please let us know if the bug is still exist in Windows Server 2016 Datacenter build 10.0.14393.3297? 2) What could be reason for CPU utilization of WMI Host provider and Memory utlization of lsass.exe process is very high Thanks & Regards, Bhushan
The ultimate question, AMD or Intel? (ARM fans also)
I'm experiencing AMD for the first time, and I was wondering how many other people have a preference, and why? I think both have their pros and cons, and the judgement is still out in my head, can you help me decide?
Thanks for the help with my New Computer!
I have it up and running! It is taking a little time getting it closer to how I want all the set points configured but I have made progress. No serious compatibility issues, yet hahaha. The i9 9900K is everything I had hoped it would turn out to be ! Linking the 2, GTX 1070 Ti, GPUs with, RTX & SLi, has lined out very nicely. I am hitting the 5 GHz speed with the CPU overclocked with the onboard AI. The Corsair H115i RGB PLATINUM CPU Liquid cooler is the one I finely went with. I did go a little overkill with the 1600 WATT Rosewill HERCULES, power supply but it does what it is meant to do and the deal I found was just right. I am going with a Samsung 250GB 3D NAND M.2 SSD for start up and Optane Persistent Memory for the built in Raid platform. Looking into getting a cooling block for the, 64 GB RAM. At least all 4 sticks are the same. I unlinked my windows 10 pro for workstation from my other PC since it is a single Volume and have it installed on the New PC but it will not activate to original in any of the 4 ways I am aware of and it can only be installed by a commercial Tech but since I have it installed maybe a regular tech can activate it! I love the Cougar, PANZER MAX, Full Case! Over all, I had a blast getting it all worked out to my satisfaction. I still have a long way to go but I am close to what I want. Overcoming the learning curve has been a challenge but I memorized 72,000 words before I became a past master, which gives me an edge on how to proceed on just about any task.
I think Microsoft is controlling my Computer
I used to be a member of the Windows Insider group, but I have not been active in almost a year... until I started researching Microsoft Windows ;E 5, then I noticed that thea few months ago I was testing software for a client, I was testing/researching Microsoft 365 E5, I tested it for about a month with my client to demonstrate everything that it can do for his company... Since then, I have done a factory reset on my computer, and changed my Microsoft account information, when Windows 10 Home was complete,, I purchased the Upgrade to Pro, I have tried to use bitlocker with problems from the Group Policy telling me that for Security some settings are managed by my system administrator, I am my own system admin. In recent weeks I purchased 2 YubiKey's so that I can use them with either Bitlocker or within windows for better and faster logins... but I have hit another road block and I cant get the Keys to work because some settings are not in my control. Windows Insider group was connected to the business programs... I ended that subscription... I cleaned and reinstalled Windows.. Help Please

Preventing Shut Down From the Sign-in Screen
In order to prevent users from using the sign-in screen to shut down whether users are signed in or not, you can use Local Security Policy or the REG command. Double-click Local Policies. 4. Click Security Options. 5. Scroll down until you see Shutdown: Allow system to be shut down without having to log on and double-click it. 6. Click Disabled and click OK. Method 2: The REG command WARNING: Incorrectly using the registry editing tool can cause serious, system-wide problems that may require you to reinstall Windows 10 to correct them. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the incorrect use of the registry editing tool can be solved. Use this tool at your own risk. 1. Press WINDOWS LOGO + R. 2. Type "cmd" (without the quotes) and press CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER. 3. Provide confirmation or type in the password if you see the User Account Control dialog box. 4. I'm not technically inclined.
I rely on my Microsoft Windows ten 🔟 to solve most problems and 99% hasn't let me down. I will not insult the Technician's intelligence by presuming to suggest how to better the system. I do want "people-friendly" included in the future. People such as myself are not Technicians.
