HELP..-files locked after updating windows7 to windows10
I recently updated my windows 7 to windows 10. Realised my google drive folder, in window.old (that has been carried in from windows 7) seem to be encrypted, it has a lock sign. I have tried decryption it by various methods available, nothing seems to work, (changed security attribute, changed ownership, tried command prompt decryption) however no luck :( . The folder was not synced with the cloud hence a lot of files in the folder were sitting on my local drive. Now I can't access them at all. I understand window.old folder will automatically delete after 30 days, and I have about 10 days left to get access to these otherwise all may be deleted. Any help to rescue these would be much appreciated. Note: 1- I had backed up this folder on my external hard drive, and have realised the same issue appearing on the external hd. 2- This particular folder is google drive folder, however it wasn't synced as the capacity was exceeded. I hope the issue is understandable, and I hope someone will have solution on this as I am completely exhausted trying to recover these work files.
Tips of the day: Becoming an expert
To draw a selection box around a group of files, click a corner of the group, and then drag the rectangle to form the box. To start a command prompt window, from which you can start programs, click Start, type "command prompt" (without the quotes), and then click Command Prompt. You can press WINDOWS LOGO + R to use the Run command to open shared folders on other computers. You can drag the program's icon to the taskbar to make running programs quicker. You can drag a file's icon into a document, or even drag a shortcut icon into a document or mail message. You can start a Windows-based program from a command prompt window. You can copy and paste text between Command Prompt and Windows 10. In the command prompt window, highlight any text you want, and then right-click to copy the text to the clipboard. You can then paste the text into your application, such as Microsoft Word. You can set File Explorer to show or hide three-letter filename extensions.

Changing system name broke direct ethernet connection
I have two windows 10 desktops wired together with ethernet they are going through a switch. But that switch does not have internet. System A has wifi, with internet access. System B is only connected to system A. I shared files over network in file explorer. But then I changed the name of system B, through the system info settings. And now it won't show up in network on System A or B, but it can still access system A. I can still ping bewtween the two systems. But I can't see System B. Why did changing the name of this system break my connection? How do I fix this issue?
Pressing CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER in the Run dialog box
If at any time you need to run a program with administrative privileges, like running Command Prompt or Windows PowerShell as an administrator, press WINDOWS LOGO + R, type the name of a program, and then press CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER. For example, you would type "cmd" (without the quotation marks) in the Run dialog box (normally, pressing WINDOWS LOGO + R opens the Run dialog box), and then press CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER to run Command Prompt as administrator. NOTE: Pressing CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER in the Run dialog box was introduced in Windows 10 April 2018 Update and works on newer Windows 10 versions.
is it necessary to use Outlook as the default email client?
I keep getting the following "error message" after startup of my Windows 10 desktop system: "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Outlook and set it as the default mail client." I have 2 email accounts that work just fine without Outlook being installed. Why do I need to install Outlook?
