Amazon is telling me I don't have security or firewall protection in order to use/connect with my Echo. Everything was fine until I canceled Amazon Prime. Now Echo/Alexa tells me "Can't connect" I spoke with DELL, and they told me the security that was pre installed on my desktop was all the security I needed and didn't need to "PURCHASE" more which is what Amazon was telling me I had to do.. After I canceled Amazon Prime, I installed just Amazon because Echo told me I had to have an Amazon acc't to use Echo. but not Prime. So now I'm faced with not being able to use Echo/Alexa ( that's what Amazon is telling me anyway ) I'm not in a position right now financially to purchase another security because of Covid, and my Windows Security seems to be doing a good job ! Can anyone help ??? Thank you, Rick
Ability to create Local Account Removed from OOBE in 1903
Yesterday I attempted to set up my PC but during the New PC setup the computer refused to allow me to set up the computer with a local account, and it forced me to log-in to my Microsoft account to set up the PC. I even called MS support and told this was an intentional change and the only way around it was to login to the MS account, and then remove the MS account after I got into windows. I was able to work around this by temporarily disconnect my house's internet, and at that point it allowed me to create a local account, but it's absurd that the first time set up is now FORCING people to set up a MS account linked to their computer. I understand that MS wants to put pressure on people to do it that way, but TOTALLY REMOVING the option to create a local account is a low blow. I often reset my PC to help clear out the junk and get it running fresh, and I prefer to set up my PC as a local account during set up so I can specify what my user folder is named, and get a chance to disable some system apps like Skype that I don't want to run before I log into my MS account. (ps, since I'm not sure if OOBE is a real term or something I made up, it's short for Out Of Box Experience, the first time set up wizard that windows puts you through the first time it boots after installing windows or resetting windows.)
blue screen when connecting to 5G wifi with new adapter
Hi, I recently bought a new Wifi adapter and since then I've encountered BSODS when connecting to 5G network. I ran winbg and here is some pertinent information: Loading Dump File [C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP] Kernel Bitmap Dump File: Kernel address space is available, User address space may not be available. ************* Path validation summary ************** Response Time (ms) Location Deferred srv* Symbol search path is: srv* Executable search path is: Windows 10 Kernel Version 18362 MP (8 procs) Free x64 Product: WinNt, suite: TerminalServer SingleUserTS Edition build lab: 18362.1.amd64fre.19h1_release.190318-1202 Machine Name: Kernel base = 0xfffff803`29800000 PsLoadedModuleList = 0xfffff803`29c461b0 Debug session time: Mon Feb 8 17:47:34.232 2021 (UTC - 6:00) System Uptime: 0 days 3:07:26.860 Loading Kernel Symbols ------------------------------ Loading User Symbols PEB is paged out (Peb.Ldr = 0000001b`f89dd018). I HOPE YOU HAVE A HAPPY HOLADAY
Top 5 mistakes I have made on a PC
5. Buying flight simulator for windows 95 and expecting it to work on Windows 10. It didn't. 4. Running 106 tabs on Google Chrome, 55 on Edge, Microsoft Flight Simulator X, 2 virtual machines, and 12 Microsoft Word documents and a PowerPoint at the same time. Guess what happened I used more memory than I had and the PC froze. 3. Forgetting to scan flight simulator planes before use for viruses. I fixed it before it was too late though. 2. Trying to burn a DVD in a CD only burner. It became useless and I used it as a Frisbee. 1. Screwing up configuration files in the C:/Windows/System32 folder. Luckily it repaired the operating system.

Language and keyboard issue
I set three Preferred Languages in Windows 10, each associated with a different keyboard layout: English (English-Qwerty), German (German-Qwertz) and Italian (Italian-Qwerty). I use different input methods for different apps, everything is smooth and fine and I can easily switch between keyboard layouts when I need to - with one notable and very annoying exception. Whenever I use MS Word, a fourth keyboard layout turns up automatically and messes up my typing: Italian-Qwertz. The point is that I have never installed it and it does not appear in the installed keyboard layouts under any installed language, but I cannot get rid of it unless I restart my pc and every time I run MS Words the unwanted keyboard layout is there again. This is driving me crazy and I would be grateful if you could help me regain my peace of mind.
Valid File Names
I've been using Windows for a long, long, time and have always wondered why: "09/20 - Service Report" is not a valid file name! One would think that between MSDOS and W10, that that would have changed much the same as other computing funsies have changed...….
Wireless Network Recognition Issue
I have a four year old Dell laptop. When trying to connect to the church wifi, it doesn't recognize the network, though my two Apple devices will (and they connect with no problem). Are there any known Windows 10 issues with wifi (thinking of the constant update problems), or a setting that I should be checking? It sees other networks in the area, but not the one I want.
