Windows Search is a desktop search platform that has instant search capabilities for most common file and data types such as email, contacts, calendar appointments, documents, photos, multimedia, and other formats that can be extended by third party developers.

Windows 10, version 1809 and earlier. If the Windows 10 October 2018 Update or an earlier update is installed, reset Cortana to reset Windows Search by following these steps: Select Start, right-click Cortana, select More, and then select App settings. In the Cortana settings, select Reset.

Just tap or click Search for easy access to your top apps and recent activities. To get search results from your PC and the web, on the taskbar, tap or click Search, and type what you're looking for in the search box. To find more results of a certain type, choose a category that matches your search target: Apps, Documents, Email, Web, and more.

Windows Search can provide results for items from: Your device (including apps, settings, and files) Your personal Microsoft account (including OneDrive and Outlook)
