MS Editor vs. Grammarly
Why does MS Editor have so less free features? Even Grammarly (free edition) has more features than MS Editor (premium)! ------------------------------------------------------------ What auto-correct software do you use? A. Grammarly B. MS Editor C. Other D. None - I use Windows' autocorrect only E. zip...zilch...zero! I disabled Windows' autocorrect too!
Differentiating Simultaneous File Explorer Sessions
I frequently need to open multiple instances of File Explorer to facilitate file management among different clients or projects. It requires high concentration and effort to ensure placing the correct items in the appropriate folders. Is there a way to customize each simultaneous Explorer window to differentiate them, such as by changing the Folder/ File name text or font, or Explorer Page Header or Page Color? This would also be useful for other apps such as Word and Excel.
Preventing Shut Down From the Sign-in Screen
In order to prevent users from using the sign-in screen to shut down whether users are signed in or not, you can use Local Security Policy or the REG command. Here's how: Method 1: Local Security Policy NOTE: This method only applies to Windows 10 Pro. 1. Press WINDOWS LOGO + R. 2. Type "secpol.msc" (without the quotes) and press ENTER. 3. Double-click Local Policies. 4. Click Security Options. 5. Scroll down until you see Shutdown: Allow system to be shut down without having to log on and double-click it. 6. Click Disabled and click OK. Method 2: The REG command WARNING: Incorrectly using the registry editing tool can cause serious, system-wide problems that may require you to reinstall Windows 10 to correct them. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the incorrect use of the registry editing tool can be solved. Use this tool at your own risk. 1. Press WINDOWS LOGO + R. 2. Type "cmd" (without the quotes) and press CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER. 3. Provide confirmation or type in the password if you see the User Account Control dialog box. 4. Type REG ADD HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v shutdownwithoutlogon /t REG_DWORD /d 1 and press ENTER. 5. Type EXIT and then press ENTER. Now, whenever you press WINDOWS LOGO + L or you're not signed in yet, the Power icon that normally appears at the bottom-right corner of the screen will not be seen.
Is it just me? No Cookies, but we got EMOJIS! Input my Soul
With all the cookies the systems use nowadays, you would think that I would not have to restart at the very beginning of the community feed, after viewing every post! 3 pages in and you give up on learning, which I'm beginning to believe is Microsofts goal. The "learning" part, not "giving up", never do that! Seriously, if you try to do any real computing, not (youtube and facebook surfing). But Excell, Powerpoint and as-difficult, proper network configurations, system configurations, sync, privacy, security, update, registry, process and even power configurations! God forbid figuring out what "Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object." means! At one point I think, I was beginning to understand that sentence...Scared myself, but not enough to check that box! Sorry...back to learning and yes, if you don't learn a thing or two trying to get windows to work properly then your obviously getting your 12 year old nephew to fix it like everyone else. At this moment it's a pleasure to accomplish something, even if it's just blowing off steam. My normal daily task consist of ; 2-3hrs reinstalling printer so I can print the "How to troubleshoot printer issue's after Windows update's", and then several more hours searching hopelessly for a way to delete the excess Cloud Drive file's, most of which are labeled "How to troubleshoot printer issue's after Windows update's", Please give me a Delete option if I right click ANYWHERE...PLEASE. How can such smart programming 12 year olds leave out or deliberately hide the basic commands. I can find 437 different ways to manipulate a file other than DELETE! Okay, I'll stop ranting, but I leave you with a " Smart" phone showing it's Scholarly skills. I was simply adding a recent call to my contacts, Phone ask's "New Contact or Update Existing". New Contact I input, then the Slept through Class SMART phone proceeds to pop up every contact with a matching letter, like I'm Updating!
Microsoft 365 Sync Issues
Before it was even a thing, I noticed that Microsoft Word, and OneNote would sync up almost immediately. Not so much with Excel. Although the sync time has gotten better, compared to Word or OneNote it still is significantly slower. But that's not the issue. The issue is I had a spread sheet on my laptop that I was working on and deleted phase one and two of that spread sheet. (Trash Bin, and then emptied the trash bin) When I opened up The Office Icon on my Fire Table, and on my Moto G7 Android phone as well, the deleted spreadsheet was still showing. Remember I had deleted it. So, I clicked and chose "remove from list" that did no good. I rarely use the Office Icon on my laptop, but this morning I did, and was stunned to see the spreadsheet still there? WTH? I clicked on "remove from list" and it went away. When I looked at my tablet and then at my phone, it was then gone from there as well.... That to me isn't the way syncing should work. I know I can make changes all the way around and they take, but I wonder what happened here? Any S.W.A.G's
Flagged as PHISHING ?
I wonder why Windows Community website was marked as "Phishing pages" by antivirus BitDefender Total Security (database update until 10-10-2020) ? I accessed it yesterday from my other PC using Chrome. Hopefully this is only a "false positive". Has anyone experienced it ? The Narrator and I
The Windows 10 Narrator bot is such a valuable resource to me. In fact I would be unable to fulfill my professional and personal commitments without Narrator. So, I am sending this message to the Windows team that design systems which are based on inclusivity especially for those of us who have some form of disability. The 'Ease of Access' function is another aid that guides the users to adjust the system to their specific needs. I am in the throes of theoretically building a bot that is personalised to my needs. I have not even started coding - still masses of learning to do. My project is an exciting challenge for me and Narrator is my partner in this venture. The AI School Platform is fantastic. Thanks to the Microsoft teams for developing inclusivity aids - great work guys 🤩😍💜
