File Naming Conventions and Best Practices
Working through long overdue digital housekeeping, I am questioning my file naming habits. Is there any official Microsoft documention on file naming best practices? Are there unconsidered implications for interoperability with other operating systems, file systems, indexing and database services, and user experiences? A few example questions I have are: (i) should spaces be avoided?, (ii) what are best practices for including document effective dates?, (iii) should file names be as short as possible?

For those folks that aren't using defender as their antivirus, is there any reason? I feel like I've got all my bases covered, but I just don't know. -nik SVA @ MS store
