Win10's โญ Getting a Role in Edgeโ๐๐
There are heaps of things that make Win10 great. Security, wonderful features & abilities, ease of use, customization and its updating. BUT there is one thing that is a real, true shining ๐... something no Windows ever had before Win10 and that is Multiple Desktops OR Virtual Desktops. This opportunity to be extremely organized, to not be forced to have EVERYTHING homogenized into one desktop is fantastic. An infinate number of different fields of interest each with their own desktop is huge in making the computing experience enjoyable, flowing, productive & logical/sensible. We are even going to be able to have different wallpapers in each desktop with 21H2. ANYWAY, soon this concept is coming to Edge, called Workspaces. Tab groups will work inside the Workspaces. Oh geeez, this will be SO coolโ๐๐ Can do inside Edge, basically the same idea as multiple Desktops. WOW, coupled with Virt Desktops, how cool is that? ๐๐ Even with one desktop, can divide up the browser, itself, into 'topics' with Workspaces ๐. Cheers, Drew
Weird invisible icons
So i recently installed the 3D modelling software blender but found it expenentially slowed my laptop, so i deleted it but an invisible icon appeared on my taskbar that even if i right clicked and un-pinned would remain there. I tried re downloading the app, didnt help, i tried to pin and un pin the app, made another one. I was wondering if this is supposed to happen and if not someone please help!

Web browsers have become a part of our digital life, and anyone would agree with it. Windows security or McAfee
So Iโm pretty disappointed in McAfeeโs software but Im unsure if I should just use windows security as a main source of protection. I like the fact that I can protect multiple devices that donโt run windows. Like my iPhone XR with mcafee. So Iโm holding to start a topic about the pros and cons of windows security compared to mcafee or any other company that provides security for my device. Iโm not new to technology but Iโm not an advanced user either.
Update ver. 2004 Let's hear about your problems.
There are always tricks and hacks to bypass some unwanted updates and their side effects, and the previous update made the sound volume go up to 80% ,this time as well 80%. Some of you experience it too, and for those like me using headphones it's no joke, especially that the level i listen to music etc. is seldom beyond 6%. (Feedback has been sent by me many weeks ago.) The 2004 version finally prevents me from using the old search, where the results get updated as i type in the file explorer search box, and ever since i was ok with the search being slow or not showing all results, it was ok as long i did not have to take additional steps in order to get to any results. As of today i am literally forced to perform one more action in order to obtain the search results, which as most of you know, is by either clicking on the arrow in the file explorer search box, or hitting the enter key on keyboard. I may mention the tool i found today that is not the best, but is not missing any file out of the search results, is fast & allows a lot customization. The name of that search tool is 'Everything.exe' and can be integrated in the shell menu as well as in the file explorer drop down menu or mouse right click. This thing can literally search for any file and despite being set to use index created by windows search, it shows all files. After clicking on 'rebuild' which creates index from scratch the 'Everything.exe' did still show all files....so a 3rd party executable is capable of something widnows after all these years is not. This is just sad. The previous update asked me about location preferences and so on. Why do i have to select same check boxes each time? Now the last thing would be Cortana, which i disabled, but after the update not only the cortana symbol appeared on the taskbar, but cortana got enabled. Apparently Windows is about productivity, yet updates will not be complete unless i confirm some settings, and the search takes more time. Productivity?
Why I can't find Windows as comfortable to use as Linux
I use Windows only for some games, and if Windows 10 had more features, I could use it on daily basis, but at the moment it is missing a few very important features. First problem is filesystem support. Windows 10 supports only very few different filesystems, which means I can't access devices like my Raspberry Pi's SD card, and also NTFS isn't actually very good filesystem. Second thing is, I can't customize Windows 10 enough. (PLEASE tell me if any of following features exist, I would love to use them!) I would like to set custom shortcuts for moving/managing windows, and I would love to have at least partly similar behavior as tiling window managers on Linux have, by which I mean that by default, program would open full-sized (not fullscreen though), but if I open another program, it would automatically split the windows. Also, I find it actually harder to search programs from internet, and then download an installer, then run it to get the program installed, and then being able to use it. On Linux (I use Arch Linux btw.) there is a thing called package management, so with package manger I can search for programs and install them straight away, and then instantly being able to use them. Also through package manager I can update all my packages = whole operating system and all programs (which are installed via package management). Also I can't do as much stuff on Windows CMD or powershell as I can in Linux terminal, and especially on Arch I like that I've hand-picked each part of system, so I know what it can do, and what it contains. And in Linux terminal, with sudo (or root user) I have the rights over all the operating system. I understand that some of these will never be accomplished in Windows, but I hope that at least some of these will be picked up as an actual suggestions. If I had to select three things to include from these, they would be package management, filesystem support and waaayy more customization options.
Microsoft versus Chrome
I came across this analysis written by Lifewire concerning these two giants. The paragraphs below are just two that attracted my attention. 'Microsoft has decided to discontinue EdgeHTML and other core components of Microsoft Edge. Instead, the company plans to create a new version of Microsoft Edge based on Chromium. Microsoft is going to build Microsoft Edge on the foundations of Chrome, meaning that key elements like the rendering engine will be identical. What's likely to remain different are the connected services. For example, you may still sync your bookmarks with your Microsoft account instead of a Google account, and Bing will likely be the default search engine for Microsoft Edge. A common platform will make it easier for developers to create content and apps that are consistent across the major browsers'. Source: Lifewire - https://lifewire.com - February 2020 I fully anticipate that Edge' et al will have to evolve as users' demands for greater connectivity and dynamic use increases - perhaps exponentially. ๐ค Post script: I did not get on with Chrome - niggly things I suppose - but irritating as a user.
