Windows desktop
The Windows 7 desktop was a lot better for me. It had a bunch of useful icons, documents, images, programs etc. right where I could see them. Now the "Desktop" is not what you see when you boot up. Instead there's a bunch of entertainment stuff cluttering up the screen and getting in the way of my getting where I want to do to do the research and writing I want to do. I have to search for "Desktop" and then I see a list of files, not as useful as the icons I used to get right off the bar. Is there any way to put the Windows 7 desktop screen on under Windows 10?
Start up and my MS Word
My system is taking too much time to start up. I keep checking and minimising the number of apps on startup. On daily basis I use to clean my system of temp files. Still no use. How to speed up my start up? Second, MS Word app is misbehaving the following ways: a) Normal Font, I mean AaBbCc is disappeared (in Style panel) and my text typing is happening in capitals all through:( b) Windows Edge browser frequently becoming dormant with a message " Edge is not responding" Could someone help me to fix these basic errors please? -Ram
Windows 10 takes long time to show desktop screen
Hello All, I use winodws 10 licensed version will all the latest updates installed. I am facing a strange issue with my desktop. Fresh windows boots very fast. Gradually the boot times gets increased. Right now the issues is: Enter password screen appears within 30 seconds to 1 minutes. After entering the password it takes up to 10 min to show desktop. Mostly its a black screen and hard disk running all the time. After desktop screen, system works fine. There is no issue. Shutdown process is normal. Maximum time for shutdown is 1 min. as lots of applications running. Restart has the same issue as startup. For 5 to 10 min. it shows please wait, then boot from zero and again delay of password screen. I have tried all the things available on internet to repair. No 3rd party tool used. It is difficult to format system everymonth as sometimes data loss happnes. System Config. i5 - 2320 cpu @ 3GHz 64Bit windows 10 RAM: 4+4GB Display: NVIDIA 1GB. 1TB HDD + 120GB HDD I have tried with main HDD also. I removed all the BIG apps and tried. But there is no luck with the boot time. I request you to please suggest a solution. Cheers, Neraj

Without any doubt Microsoft and Windows are the best in the world, but what as a user since 25 years says : design, features, instruction, email(outlook) and.......all components of what Microsoft produce for the people of the world are complicated and not for ordinary people like me and 90 percent of users , but for elites and people with high knowledge of computer or better to say informatic and high technology, the time and money Microsoft puts on updates and new features is massive in compare with rivals. and in my opinion it is the most weak point of Microsoft. with best regards,

Hello all, I have a genuine question that has no right or wrong answer. How would you learn to use your computer better? It doesn't matter the device, the operating system, or how long you've had it. Simply put, everyone learns differently and at their own pace, what format or style of learning works best for you? I'm a Microsoft trainer and have been providing computer training at all levels for years. As much as I love the job security of being needed... the ultimate goal is to make Windows 10 easy to use and navigate without support. So, do you learn best from step-by-step instructions in a clickable demo?Perhaps that's too time consuming and you'd prefer a quick notification with basic instructions? Do we appreciate links to support pages or pop-up instructions? Has the time finally come to bring back everyone's favorite digital assistant Clippy? What do you perceive as helpful versus intrusive? Windows 10 Virtual/Multiple Desktop Usefulness
Just started using virtual/multiple desktops, and I'm finding it quite useless, so I think i may be missing something. I can't seem to get apps opening nicely on both desktops, I get very inconsistent behavior. Skype/Battle.net client/etc - Opening on 2nd desktop swaps me back to the first desktop Edge - Opens new windows fully separate on 2nd desktop Outlook - Opens new window nicely on 2nd desktop, 1st desktop sees two windows (1st and 2nd desktop instances) I didn't test much more than this, but makes a 2nd desktop quite useless as i mostly have to swap back for particularly chat apps. Am I doing something wrong? BR, Andrew
