Highly recommend Windows Terminal
Windows Terminal is available from Store, now, already. I highly recommend it❗ Eventually, it will replace cmd, the current PowerShell & more. I can do everything in one app, has tabs and IS the future (NOW). Please, grab it & discover it for yourself, now; it is VERY cool, indeed for all it can do. Cheers, Drew

Unable to update W10 Version 1809, error 0xC1900101-0x40017
I have a Dell laptop with Windows 10 version 1809, OS build 17763.1518. I have been trying to update Windows 10 for months, but it always fails at the end. Most recently I tried the Media Creation Tool, and the ISO method to update. This also failed, with the following end message: We couldn't install Windows 10. 0xC1900101-0x40017. Failed in Second Boot phase with an error during Boot operation. I read a lot of posts about this error code and it seems like no one knows how to fix it. Is there anything that can be done to fix this problem so that I can update to a later version? I understand that version 1809 is about to be terminated.

Answer to my wi-fi dropout did not address the issue.

Go you your manufacturer's support site and download the most current Wi-Fi driver or update it manually: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/update-drivers-in-windows-10-ec62f46c-ff14-c91d-eead-d7126dc1f7b6'. My issue is intermittent and the link does not address this. The wi-fi signal is normally strong and when I get a dropout Windows 10 points to router failure. When I check the router with another pc, at the same location as my laptop,the wi-fi is ok but my laptop is not. I have the latest wi-fi adapter drivers. I'm convinced that it's not the router but an intermiient error with laptop hardware or software. But which is it and how can I fix it.
3D Builder - Has Development Ceased?
I am a big fan of 3D Builder although not for 3D printing but because it can export in file formats compatible with game engines like Unity. I like its non-technical approach and think it is a great option for indie developers to make 3D models for their games. There are a few features I really wish Microsoft would add. 1. More built in primitive shapes. 2. A symmetry option for the Split tool, so you can have a mirrored split effect. 3. Option to export to fbx. Right now you export to the 3mf file format and then open in Paint 3D to convert to fbx. Would like to skip the Paint 3D step. 4. Export scaling options. Objects are either way too big or way too small when exporting to Unity. Give us some control. 5. A real time etching tool. Since 3D Builder already takes a carving approach to modeling (split tool and subtract tool), I think an etching tool would complement that approach. Also, promote this app to game developers. I found it quite by accident.
A piece of advice from an old IT Pro in 2021
If you have an interest in IT; however that may manifest itself & to whatever degree it is pursued... be it a 'hobbyist', a helpful parent involved with a child-student's learning or ESPECIALLY youth considering a career in IT. Learn to write code. I wish I had. It's easier than Folks think and as time and tech march on it is a valuable skill. We used to learn the '3 Rs', now we teach coding. Hard to grasp, maybe, but it IS the future. MS has heaps of learning tracks. The apps that, frankly, anyone can (learn to) build permeate every aspect of life. Computing & software development is growing exponentially. Huge career potential in the years ahead... not IT per se, but IT in everything, every field of endeavour or expertise & throughout society. Learn to write code. Let's you write your own ticket. Doctor makes an app that helps diagnose & treat THEIR OWN patients. Banker one that tracks & grows their customers' finances. Virtual 'Twins' & AI that can track, analyse & manage supply, manufacture & distribution from growing ingredients to final consumption. This is NOT exclusively MS Store apps for Windows.
