How do I switch out of S mode in Windows 10?
Windows 10 in S mode is designed for security and performing, allowing only apps to be downloaded and installed from Microsoft Store. Until you switch out of S mode, you're not allowed to install a desktop app. Switching out of S mode is one way and free of charge. If you switch out of it, there's no going back. To switch out of S mode: 1. Press WINDOWS LOGO + I and click "Update & Security" > "Activation." 2. In the "Switch to Windows 10 Home" or "Switch to Windows 10 Pro" section, click "Go to the Store." (If you also see "Upgrade your edition of Windows," try not to click "Go to the Store.") 3. In Microsoft Store, the "Switch out of S mode" (or similar) page appears. Click the "Get" button. After seeing a confirmation message, you'll be able to install desktop apps outside of Microsoft Store.

Games (world of tanks...) switch to desktop
In the middle of a game Windows 10 switches to desktop. I have to alt-tab to get back to my game. All notifications are off. Sometimes when that happens I briefly see the weather app icon flash once on the start bar. So I uninstalled weather and news apps (the ones that come with windows 10) = still happens. Any idea? Thanks

With the free Office Online apps, you can quickly switch to the full-featured desktop apps—without leaving your document. In Word for the web, click the Edit in Word button. There’s a similar button in Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote for the web. If your document opens in Read Mode, click View > Edit Document to edit it.

Replied on January 5, 2018. Since no one else will answer your question, here goes: Open Internet Explorer, navigate to the same page you're having the issue with, and try to open the same link. When it asks you the same question, uncheck "ask every time". Then close IE and continue using Edge without the Nag anymore.
Can't switch between application windows. If I have multiple application windows open such as word, excel and chrome I cannot switch between them unless I minimise the application I don't want at that time. I am using Windows10 and not aware of anything I have done to change things. This is very frustrating and wastes time.
On the Start menu, select Settings > Apps > Default apps. Select which default you want to set, and then choose the app. You can also get new apps in Microsoft Store. Apps need to be installed before you can set them as the default.
