Tips and Tricks for Windows Performance
Let's limit it to the aspects of operating system and software, not hardware. Everyone knows that upgrading memory, SSD, graphic card will certainly improve performance. What will you do (tinkering or setting) to improve Windows performance on the devices with average specs. Let's share together (your tips and tricks or advice). Thank you ! UPDATE 10 December 2020 : What is shared here is more intended for computer used to support daily activities at home or office, to utilize its potential. User having a high-spec computer designed for heavy gaming might less feel the difference. Nonetheless I think some tips will also be useful for gamers.
Tips and tricks: Network drives and computers
Instead of mapping network drives, create desktop shortcuts to folders from another computers on the network. Then, double-click a shortcut to folder and you'll be able to access a folder from another computer on the network. To access another computer on the network, open the Network folder, and then drag a computer to the desktop. The shortcut is then created to the desktop. Double-clicking a shortcut to a network computer will open in a window. Sometimes, you'll be prompted for credentials from another user. You can send files or folders to a folder from your computer to another computer on the network. To do this: 1. Press WINDOWS LOGO + R. 2. Type "shell:sendto" (without the quotes) and press ENTER. 3. Access the folder from another computer on the network in the Network folder. 4. Hold down ALT and drag the folder to the SendTo window. A shortcut will be created. Now, whenever you right-click a file, point to Send to, and then click a folder that is from another computer on the network, another user will receive it.
Tips and tricks: Command Prompt
If you're in a current directory and want to open it from Command Prompt, type "start ." (without the quotes) and press ENTER. Typing "start .." (without the quotes) and pressing ENTER opens a directory one level higher. To copy a text, highlight some or all of the text and press CTRL+C. You can then paste into any application. To paste a text from another application, press CTRL+V inside a Command Prompt window. Right-clicking inside Command Prompt also pastes a text from another application. To see the drive, path, and file location, drag a file or folder from File Explorer to Command Prompt. It will then be shown. For example, "C:\Dinosaur Land\Spring Sounds\Boing.wav". You can start programs from Command Prompt. Type the name of an application and press ENTER or type "start

Tips and tricks: file and folder operations
It is easy to cut, copy, delete, move, or paste files/folders from one folder to another but shown below are quicker ways to perform file operations: Pressing CTRL+C copies the file. Pressing CTRL+V pastes the file. Pressing CTRL+X cuts the file and makes it ready to be pasted elsewhere. Pressing SHIFT+DELETE permanently deletes a file without sending it to the Recycle Bin. Pressing CTRL+Z performs an undo operation on a file or folder. Pressing CTRL+Y performs a redo operation on a file or folder. Pressing CTRL+SHIFT+N creates a new folder. There are some more tips and tricks on file and folder operations shown below: If you drag a file or folder to another folder in the same drive, it is moved. Holding down CTRL performs a copy. If you drag a file or folder to another folder in another drive, it is coped. Holding down SHIFT moves it out of the primary drive. If you drag a file or folder to another folder in the same or another drive while holding down ALT, it is copied as a shortcut. A shortcut to a file or folder can then be placed on the desktop for easy access. Right-click on a file or folder, and then click Delete while holding down SHIFT to permanently delete it. If you drag a file or folder to another folder in the same or another drive while holding down your right mouse button, the following options appear: Copy Here, Move Here, and Create Shortcut(s) Here. Moving a file or folder to the Recycle Bin while holding down SHIFT permanently deletes it. If you use a folder frequently for working with files, you can pin it to Quick Access. Just right-click the folder in File Explorer, and then click Pin to Quick Access. Or drag it to Quick Access, which pins it there. Right-clicking a program's icon pinned to the taskbar shows you recent files like documents, websites, folders, and so on. If you frequently work on a file, right-click a program's icon pinned to the taskbar and click the pin icon.

Office 365 Tips and Tricks. Do you have a tip or trick you would like to share with the class? My trick is in Excel, and uses the Format Cell feature. When people look into formatting a cell, they rarely look beyond font, color, time, and currency, They rarely look into the Custom part of the Numbers format section, and that is where I'm going to take you. In Excel when you type something like 25#, or 25lb., there are several ways to get the adjacent cell to either x, /, -, +, that cell. Or for example you have a list where every name is the same, only the quantity changes. So why, type that name in each and every time, and why enter some outed formula to take advantage of the number only. So here's a way of doing both. When you choose to format a cell or row or column of cells, highlight Number, then scroll down to custom, Under the word Type, where it says General type in "mmHG", then hit press enter. Now when you enter your number in that column of cells, the letters mmHG will also appear. Next for the numbers. Under the word Type, where it says General you can type is something like this 0.0 "lbs." Notice that there is a space between the last 0 and the first quote mark. That is optional, but after you hit enter go a cell in that column and enter a number and let your eye make your decision. When you enter a number in the cell now, it will appear as 25#, but it will be able to be X, /, *, -, +, as if the # wasn't even there. As for both scenarios, what I've shown you in between the quote marks can be anything you want. Have fun! What are some of your tips or tricks?
