Microsoft USB Printer Driver (Usbprint.sys) Usbprint.sys is the Microsoft-provided device driver for USB printers. Usbprint.sys works with Usbmon.dll to provide end-to-end connectivity between USB printers and high-level printer drivers. Unlike some USB device class drivers, Usbprint.sys does not "drive" the printer.

Simply plug the USB cable from your printer into an available USB port on your PC, and turn the printer on. Select the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners. Select Add a printer or scanner . Wait for it to find nearby printers, then choose the one you want to use, and select Add device.

The following figure shows the driver stack for a printer connected over a USB port. The following example shows the entries in an INF Manufacturer section that can be used to install a USB or other bus-type printer driver. The first line guarantees a rank-0 hardware ID match if the printer is installed on a USB bus.

The list of printer ports can be found at: Start > Settings (gear icon) > Devices > Printers & Scanners > Print Server Properties > Port tab. Cause. If the driver for the USB printer contains a Language Monitor, the OpenPortEx callback function of the Language Monitor would not be called.
