Echo
Amazon is telling me I don't have security or firewall protection in order to use/connect with my Echo. Everything was fine until I canceled Amazon Prime. Now Echo/Alexa tells me "Can't connect" I spoke with DELL, and they told me the security that was pre installed on my desktop was all the security I needed and didn't need to "PURCHASE" more which is what Amazon was telling me I had to do.. After I canceled Amazon Prime, I installed just Amazon because Echo told me I had to have an Amazon acc't to use Echo. but not Prime. So now I'm faced with not being able to use Echo/Alexa ( that's what Amazon is telling me anyway ) I'm not in a position right now financially to purchase another security because of Covid, and my Windows Security seems to be doing a good job ! Can anyone help ??? Thank you, Rick

Top 5 mistakes I have made on a PC
5. Buying flight simulator for windows 95 and expecting it to work on Windows 10. It didn't. 4. Running 106 tabs on Google Chrome, 55 on Edge, Microsoft Flight Simulator X, 2 virtual machines, and 12 Microsoft Word documents and a PowerPoint at the same time. Guess what happened I used more memory than I had and the PC froze. 3. Forgetting to scan flight simulator planes before use for viruses. I fixed it before it was too late though. 2. Trying to burn a DVD in a CD only burner. It became useless and I used it as a Frisbee. 1. Screwing up configuration files in the C:/Windows/System32 folder. Luckily it repaired the operating system.
Microsoft is up to something good!
On two of my favorite web Windows websites this morning (mspoweruser.com and neowin.com) I read about What Microsoft is calling Sleeping Tabs. Now this is only available now for those of us that are using Edge Canary. But from what I gathered after I enabled the flag, was that it wouldn't be too long before it was fully released. What a resource saver that will be for some. You can read more about it here: https://mspoweruser.com/microsoft-edges-upcoming-sleeping-tabs-feature/ Another article was that those running Windows 10 Insiders Preview Build 20215 can now completely uninstall the People App. Here's the direct link to that article if your interested: https://mspoweruser.com/uninstall-microsoft-people-app-from-windows-10/
How many people actually π π over πβ (Translate pls)
This is π for most π§ and is only π΅and π for most occasions, and because of π we can π₯ the π of π for the questionable π± π€. But the π has great πand can do π things, and because of how we π πΌ with it. Ok, so here is a challenge, try to translate this within 30 seconds or the world will end in leetspeak. The reason why I am doing this is to question why π and π look terrible on this site, Why is this different from Windows 10 design U.I. and the site displays something different. The last update appears to kill my system.
Not complaining. I got it fixed by resetting pc back to default windows. Fresh install. The error was like cannot access boot drive. Just passing it along incase I'm not the only one.
Answer to my wi-fi dropout did not address the issue.
Got the following reply. Windows Community2 months ago 'Hello Tony - We are sorry to hear you are having issues with your Wi-Fi connection. Please see this article on how to troubleshoot your network: https://community.windows.com/en-us/stories/quick-ways-to-fix-common-wi-fi-connection-issues. Go you your manufacturer's support site and download the most current Wi-Fi driver or update it manually: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/update-drivers-in-windows-10-ec62f46c-ff14-c91d-eead-d7126dc1f7b6'. My issue is intermittent and the link does not address this. The wi-fi signal is normally strong and when I get a dropout Windows 10 points to router failure. When I check the router with another pc, at the same location as my laptop, the wi-fi is ok but my laptop is not. I have the latest wi-fi adapter drivers. I'm convinced that it's not the router but an intermiient error with laptop hardware or software. But which is it and how can I fix it.
virus and threat protection
I didn't know my Windows Defender virus & threat protection was turned off. How do I turn this back on?
Ability to create Local Account Removed from OOBE in 1903
Yesterday I attempted to set up my PC but during the New PC setup the computer refused to allow me to set up the computer with a local account, and it forced me to log-in to my Microsoft account to set up the PC. I even called MS support and told this was an intentional change and the only way around it was to login to the MS account, and then remove the MS account after I got into windows. I was able to work around this by temporarily disconnect my house's internet, and at that point it allowed me to create a local account, but it's absurd that the first time set up is now FORCING people to set up a MS account linked to their computer. I understand that MS wants to put pressure on people to do it that way, but TOTALLY REMOVING the option to create a local account is a low blow. I often reset my PC to help clear out the junk and get it running fresh, and I prefer to set up my PC as a local account during set up so I can specify what my user folder is named, and get a chance to disable some system apps like Skype that I don't want to run before I log into my MS account. (ps, since I'm not sure if OOBE is a real term or something I made up, it's short for Out Of Box Experience, the first time set up wizard that windows puts you through the first time it boots after installing windows or resetting windows.)
Four suggestions (@Anita George, @Moderator) (EDITED)
1. I recommend MS Rewards integration in Windows Community (badge earned = 10 points) 2. I want a Member of the Week each Monday. 3. I also want ranks like MS Tech Community, for example ----------------------- Kam @Kam Honored Contributor ----------------------- 4. I want the ability to view other profiles 4a. See which members are online I hope you like my suggestions. Thanks, Kam
