why is it so hard to get service support from microsoft
Many microsoft products are not intutitive, yet the service is non existent, or it sucks. Why? Just like this experience now. IT goes nowhere and is a waste of time.

7/14-7/15/2020 update froze my monitor/computer
Be on the lookout. When I booted up, it would show the W10 screen, then I would log in... it would start bringing up my files and my monitor would scramble and I had no control with the keyboard. Tried it twice more, same results. Wound up choosing a "Restore" point and now my computer works again. Just a heads up folks.

Home Network Issues
My home network, Wi-Fi based, lacks stability in that it often fails to present in File Explorer networked PCs I intend to access. When this happens, I have to leave the computer I am using to go to the target PC to perform what's needed. It's really a problem of inconsistency ("now you see me, now you don't"). Each PC is setup on the network by simply entering the password for AT&T gateway/modem, without creating any kind of homegroup or workgroup, etc., etc. Where am I going wrong? Is there a tried and true home network setup method that I can use to avoid this annoyance? Any help this community can provide would be greatly appreciated. By way of background, let me say this: System: Windows 10 Home, 64-bit Connectivity: Wi-Fi Number of Pcs: 6 Thanks. ca le

Start up and my MS Word
My system is taking too much time to start up. I keep checking and minimising the number of apps on startup. On daily basis I use to clean my system of temp files. Still no use. How to speed up my start up? Second, MS Word app is misbehaving the following ways: a) Normal Font, I mean AaBbCc is disappeared (in Style panel) and my text typing is happening in capitals all through:( b) Windows Edge browser frequently becoming dormant with a message " Edge is not responding" Could someone help me to fix these basic errors please? -Ram

The great dilemma.
Over many years, starting with DOS, I have seen operating systems come and go. When they do, forums like this always throw up the views of lovers and haters. Unbalanced views are the main reason I stay away from social media in general, because I try to look past my own narrow view of what is best. The world turns, not about me, but about every user and their diverse needs. In my world, computers do something useful like engineering calculation or photo manipulation. Things I couldn't do realistically or creatively without one. In the days of DOS, a computer did amazing things for me. I wrote software that designed and plotted timber frame homes. Something way ahead of what most companies at the time had to work with. Windows arrived on the scene and was more trouble than it was worth, to me, being hampered by a graphical interface that served no practical purpose. The mouse was the most useful advance of the time, back then. We all hate change when we have to face learning a different way of doing something that we did perfectly well before. As I saw it, newer versions of windows added many different ways of doing the same thing. Another unnecessary distraction because those changes bloated the interface making it harder to work quickly. I could still revert to DOS, (no I couldn't, actually) or an earlier OS like my favourite Win 7. Why don't I, probably for the same reason as those who have progressed to Win 10, latest update version. We hope we will discover something new and exciting in it. Sadly, we don't make that discovery, but we do still upgrade and chase that foolish illusion. I can't help myself and I doubt anyone else can, either. What I also see in these advancements is the challenge Microsoft (and Apple) have. How to invent a new wheel, one that looks better than the old round one and does all the things their own advertising agents think customers desperately want. The customer, like me, seems to be the problem. Stop using what we don't need.

How do I disable S mode?
This is a terrible feature that does nothing but make my life worse.

All Detected Networks Stuck on Connect Automatically
Several days ago I got a new router from Xfinity (Arris TG1782g). My brother noticed immediately on his laptop (running Win 7) that when he clicks the Internet Access icon in the Task Bar, every single detected network in the area has Connect Automatically checked. We live in a densely populated city and there are a LOT of detected networks. I noticed a few moments ago that my PC running Win 10 Pro also has very single Connect Automatically box checked. Most are secured networks but some are not. I can uncheck them all but they revert back to checked immediately. There is no option to 'forget' any of the networks listed and I can't find a setting to uncheck or remove them. I also cannot find a user manual anywhere online for the new router, nor can I find anything in the router's settings that covers my issue. I do not have this issue with my Apple and Android devices. It's only Windows.

Where do I ask doc problem (password added, not by me)
I had a hacker in 2018 who removed a lot of my financial information and thought Microsoft store had fixed it. Noticed a lot of files seem to have disappeared from my financial folder over the last couple of months, and the most important document, I saved into an Excel file. That file still remains in the folder. When I went to print it out around December, it is now a .pdf and it is asking for a password which I of course do not have. I have no idea how to password protect a file. The name of the document has "and1" added to the title of the document before the .pdf. Is there any way I could have accidentally saved it the wrong way or would I really have to had to work to write a password? Then the next step is, is there any way to circumvent and get around the password protection? I should be the admin on the laptop and an identity under my name. No one has borrowed my laptop. This makes me freak out! Thank you very much. Windows 10 and Office 365.
