On-line Shopping ๐
Whilst we have all been on lockdown (except for front-line workers bless them๐) have your online shopping transactions significantly increased, remained the same or even decreased? I have been an online shopper for several years which I find so convenient and cost-effective. Since lockdown though, I have used the 'Amazon' platform more than I had originally anticipated even taking into consideration the difficulties of lockdown. Here in the UK during the first few weeks of the pandemic, supermarkets experienced panic buying by many, many customers resulting in stripped shelves and getting a delivery slot was very difficult ๐ค๐ฎ. Thankfully supermarket shopping delivery slots are much easier to book. But I had to resort to doing more virtual food shopping and found a source form a pub in a near-by village. ๐ฅ๐๐ฅฌ๐ฅฆ๐ฅ Restrictions in England are being lifted slowly and non-essential retail shops will be permitted to re-open on June 15th. I have to wonder though, whether shoppers in general will return to the High Street/Main Street in the numbers prior to the pandemic. The retail sector has suffered significant losses and several large department stores have gone into administration. Do you think that the pandemic has fundamentally changed the way we will shop in a post-pandemic world? For myself, I think it has. I find on-line shopping so very convenient - even buying printer cartridges and other desk essentials was easier than trooping to the retail park. I think MS/Windows/Skype et al had made my daily life much easier - thank you to all the teams. Now I can shop around the world, hold virtual meetings, keep in contact with friends and come to this platform any time of the day/evening. So cool ๐ Many thanks to all MS teams. Views? Many thanks all and keep well ๐

Has anyone been having fun with Edge?
I have been using Microsoft products since DOS 1.0... Yep I'm so old that I can remember when we had to rub rocks together to get dirt to plant peanuts. Edge is unique that it has harvested all my favorites, since day one, and given me the dark side of Backup/restore. I tried my friends, and I have no enemies to ask, they all died of old age. And now Internet Explorer is being hauled off to the boneyard. Work, of course, doesn't use anything but IE... Soooo, me being the old geek and all that, they off load their problems to me. Does anybody out there in the land of people have had favorites listing so long that they could be used to fish with?

How can I stay safe while connected to Wi-Fi?
Use an encrypted Wi-Fi while online. Wi-Fi that is encrypted with WPA-2 is more secure than Wi-Fi that's just open for all to access. If you're working from home, make sure that your home's Wi-Fi network is securely encrypted and using WPA-2. All home routers support encryption.

I am new to this part of the forum and I am just gathering information so I understand it better. I know there are instructions, but I wanted to hear from the community to make sure the features all work as intended.

Virus protection can't be turned on.
My computer tells me the virus protection is off and needs to be turned on, however I have not been able to do so. When I've tried it tells me the either an error has been detected and to try again or it simply tells me the task can't be completed.

Do you use Two Factor Authentication (2FA/MFA)
Many websites are now offering 2FA protection. Some sites make you use it. When it's offered, do you enable it? I have been adding 2FA to all my accounts ever since someone tried to hack my Amazon account. That was scary. I have credit cards and other personal info store with Amazon and if they had gotten in they would have had it all. With Two Factor enabled, someone would have to hack my password AND be holding my mobile phone, to be able to use the 2FA app and get the code to log in. That makes it almost impossible for anyone unwanted to get into my accounts. I've also been enabling the feature that notifies me by email if someone tries but fails to get in.

Online classes for kids: knowledge gained > innocence lost?
Should kids have to care about login, password, account, zoom, TEAMS? I started thinking about this when a friend of mine was describing her "New Normal" few months ago - How she had to help her kids figure out school-supplied-equipments, online classrooms, accounts, logging in, figuring out passwords, online submission... Online learning or any kind of learning is great, but what's the right age to start. What's the right taxonomy, verbiage for kids? What do you think? I also wonder if anyone at Microsoft is thinking about this while designing their products. Disclaimer: I don't have kids (thank god!!).
