Tips and tricks: File Explorer switches
You can use File Explorer switches in the Run dialog box. Explorer [/e] [/select] [/separate] /e Opens File Explorer with the Navigation pane turned on (if it is turned off). The default to open File Explorer by using "explorer /e" (without the quotes) is the Documents folder. You can open another folder by using "explorer /e,[drive:]path" (for example, "explorer /e,c:\users"). /select The parent folder opens and the specified object is selected. (For example, "explorer /select,c:\windows\regedit.exe".) /separate Opens File Explorer in a separate process. Tip: You can also create shortcuts to File Explorer switches.

Win. 10, Ver. 20H2 Install Fails, Disk 100%, Restore Fails
I tried to install the October 20, 2020 Windows 10 update, version 20H2. The installation failed. I believe it was due to the HDD being maxed out at 100%. Following the failed installation, the computer continued to run with HDD at 100%. Following virus scans, I attempted System Restore. Only 2 prior System Restore points were available. Multiple System Restore attempts were made. Anti-virus and firewall settings were turned off following failed System Restore attempts. Following the final, failed System Restore attempt using the oldest System Restore date, the HDD problem seems to have been resolved, even though the System Restore failed. Regarding the failed System Restore, I received the following message after each failed attempt: _______________________ "System Restore did not complete successfully. Your Computer's system files were not changed. Details: System Restore could not access a file. This is probably because an anti-virus program is running on the computer. Temporarily disable your antivirus program and retry System Restore An unspecified error occurred during System Restore. (0x80070005) You can try System Restore again and choose a different restore point. If you continue to see this error, you can try an advanced recovery method." ______________________ HISTORY: This i5, 8GB, HP computer was purchased in 12/2018. It encountered a problem following purchase that required a System Restore. At that time, System Restore crashed the operating system, which became unusable. This required returning the computer to HP for warranty repair. The repaired laptop computer that was returned to me had an updated BIOS and the HDD partition was removed. I am currently running Win-10, Version 1909. The current HDD problem seems to be resolved. However, System Restore is not working properly. 1) Does anyone have any thoughts as to how I can get System Restore to work? 2) HDD at 100% seems to be a problem with Windows 10, Version 20H2. Any thoughts?

How secure is your computer?
Hello there amazing people. I just wanted to ask, what applications are you using to protect your computer. This can be, Antivirus software, ADBlockers, Cleaners, Download managers etc. I just want to see how everyone is protecting their Computers in their own way :'') Also, could you rate your computer protection from 1 to 10 (as 1 not secured at all, 10 being the best possible) If I had to asnwer I would give my self a pretty solid nine, as I am using BitDefender Total Security, ADGuard, Brave Browser (with Tor when needed), VPN and Free download manager, and most importnantly. Common sense 😁 As I said all I want is to see how diferent people portect their computers, as in my opinion this is extremely importnat. Keep your self, your computer and your accounts safe at all cost :) Wish you all an amazing summer 🙌

Microsoft Edge

Where to learn?
I wasn't brought up with computers; I'm 66, but want to learn how to do more. In particular, I want to learn how to track the sources of scammers and spammers. I haven't fallen for any of the scams I've received, but want to be able to have papers served on the scammers, or have the police haul them off. What book(s) should I look for, or where can I find free or low cost instruction?

intruders in sleep mode
U know how to keep intruders out of desktop in sleep mode? I find open files on my desktop.

Narrator is running silent on me ☹
Narrator is one of the best apps for me. Being visually impaired I use frequently to read incoming emails, documents etc. Following the download of kb4558244, (01/05/2020) the narrator will not read text. I am 'rudderless' without this feature. 😟 I have reported the 'bug' via the Feedback hub and I can only hope that normal service will be resumed as quickly as possible. Anyone else having this problem or any problem following kb4558244? 🤔 Update as of 16:35 hours (UK) time Windows Insider Team has responded to my query 'at pace' 🤩 - I thank them for their attention to the problem. 👋🙏 Narrator has been restored as my screen reader. 😀

Hiding a file
To hide a file: 1. Go to a folder that has a file in File Explorer. 2. Double-click a file while holding down ALT. 3. Click to check the Hidden box, and then click OK. Note: You won't be able to see a file if you go to the same folder in File Explorer. However, you can go to File Explorer Options, and then click Show hidden files, folders, and drives on the View tab.
